0848. Perspective on the Santa Fe Trail: Opposition Trader

William and Charles Bent, along with Ceran St. Vrain, built the original fort in 1833 to trade with Plains Indians and trappers as well as conduct business along the Santa Fe Trail. However, they weren’t the only traders in the area looking to make a living by trade.
